Ingredients :
- Any fish of your choice ( preferably boneless)
- Lemon – ½ to marinate
- 1 large onion
- MAHA-GOMANTAK masala- 1 tbsp
- Coriander seeds- 2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds- ½ tbsp.
- Tamarind- 2 inch lump (soaked in water)
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- 2-3 tbsp grated coconut
- 4-5 dried red chillies
- 1-2 garlic cloves
- Slit green chilli- 1
- Coconut milk- 100 ml (optional)
- Salt as required
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Water as required for gravy
Process :
- Marinate the fish with salt, ½ tsp turmeric powder, MAHAGOMANTAK masala and half a squeezed lemon. Keep it aside.
- Meanwhile, prepare the curry paste by grinding all the ingredients (except coconut milk) in a mixer jar.
- In a pan/ skillet heat the oil and add the prepared curry paste, MAHAGOMANTAK masala and let it cook for a while.
- Add water and bring the gravy to boil. Keep stirring the gravy in between. You can add more water if required to adjust the consistency.
- Add the marinated fish and salt to the gravy and let it cook till the fish is completely cooked.
- Switch off the flame and add coconut milk (optional). Add chopped coriander and serve hot with hot rice.
