Masale bhaat

Ingredients-

  • 1 cup basmati rice (Any variety rice will suffice)
  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds, cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida, turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli podwer
  • 1 tbsp MAHAGODA masala
  • 2 tbsp ghee/oil
  • ½ tsp jaggery
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt and water as required
  • ¼ cup fresh scraped coconut
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

Process-

  • Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it for 10 mins.
  • Heat ghee/oil in a pressure pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and turmeric powder and curry leaves.
  • Then add in the soaked rice and sauté for few minutes.
  • Then add red chilli powder, goda masala and salt. Mix it well.
  • Now add water, jaggery and some scraped coconut. Bring it to boil.
  • Put the lid on and pressure cook the rice. (3-4 whistles)
  • Serve hot and garnish the dish with scraped coconut and coriander leaves.
